In 1984, the Board of Directors elected Ken Lawson, Jr. as President. He was determined to continue the growth of Thriftway,Inc. and took several important
steps to maintain Thriftway's prominent position in the market place.

First he introduced the Company to the Lumbermen's Merchandising Corporation,
a buying cooperative for independent lumber dealers. The low wholesale prices that
LMC provides through its group buying gives Thriftway a competitive edge in the
market place. LMC has over 300 dealers in over 1,100 locations.
In 1994, a second store was opened at 2037 Main Street in Tell City, Indiana to
better serve customers in that area.
Thriftway continues to grow along with the Greater Ohio Valley.

Second, Mr. Lawson, Jr. began a remodeling of the facility, adding a Home Center to the lumberyard. Thriftway is equipped to meet the needs of the
do-it-yourself consumer as well as the contractor. This spirit of growth continues at
Thriftway as new lines of merchandise are continually being added. Feel free to visit us
